Enhancing Well Production Through Artificial Lift and Other Solutions
The vast majority of oil and gas wells in the world require
artificial lifting solutions. There are many options available, but some are
particularly effective at enhancing well production no matter the conditions.
Electric
Submersible Pumps (ESP)
An ESP system improves production in a
large variety of situations. It is applicable in high-temperature pumping systems,
cool-water wells, gas well dewatering systems, and high-pressure conditions, to
name just a few. It is also excellent for its simple installation and its
capability to meet temperature and viscosity demands. Finally, its increased
run life and the lower lifecycle expenses will help you maximize profits.
Progressive
Cavity Pumps
A progressive cavity pump, or PCP, is
a positive displacement pump that has a fixed stator containing a spinning
helical rotor. It functions by moving fluid from the bottom of the pump to the
discharge at the top by passing the fluid through small cavities. Thanks to
proprietary elastomers that line the stator, the PCP has increased bond and
tear strength and is resistant to abrasives, gas, and water.
Gas Lift
Systems
With gas lift systems, you gain greater versatility without
sacrificing production. For instance, you can pull and replace slickline
gas-lift valves whenever designs and system performance requires a change, all
without disturbing tubing.
Furthermore, gas lift systems are now able to cope with more
environments. For example, they can manage abrasive materials like sand and
work in low-productivity wells, high ratio gas or oil wells, and deviated
wellbores. The system is also able to function under higher pressure without
jeopardizing performance. New systems in particular have higher pressure
ratings and pressure barrier features to use in deepwater and subsea wells.
Horizontal
Surface Pumps
Another flexible option is a horizontal surface pump. These
systems are an alternative to conventional industrial pumps. Their wear
resistance and capability to cope in harsh conditions, which is thanks to
abrasion-resistant zirconium, can provide you with significant cost savings.
Better still, they require no daily maintenance and you can exchange major
components in just two or three hours — compared to days or even weeks for a
split case pump.
Sucker Rods
Advanced sucker rod pumping technologies allow for improved
performance and reduced expenses. They also enable increased automation, to cut
down workload while enhancing production.
To choose the right system for you, consider your needs and
current challenges. Bear in mind that you can customize most of the above
solutions to better suit your oil or gas wells.
